Dr. Andrew Johnston
Clinical Assistant Professor, Insect Diagnostician

Andrew is the Principal Investigator of the Insect Diversity and Diagnostics Lab and is the Purdue Insect Diagnostician. He can most frequently be found looking at beetles in the field or under a microscope.

Nina Codrington-White
M.S. Graduate Student
Department of Entomology, Purdue University
Nina is studying the taxonomy of Flat Bark Beetles (family Silvanidae). Their thesis is focused on a revision of the genus Ahasverus which includes the Foreign Grain Beetle - a cosmopolitan stored product pest.

Josh Schutt
Ph.D. Graduate Student
Department of Entomology, Purdue University
Josh is working on the taxonomy of the early diverging Tenebrionines, with an interest in their evolution as stored grain pests. He is happiest when exploring and learning about the diversity of beetles.

Undergraduate Researchers
Haijie Lu
Haijie started in the lab in 2026 where he sorts and identifies beetle specimens.
Evangeline Salgado
Eva started in the lab in 2025 and is working on cataloguing beetle species known from Indiana.
Hunter Roy
Hunter is working on a capstone project on oak gall wasps of our area and began in the lab in 2025.
Aster Barajas
Aster started in the lab in 2024 and sorts and prepares insect specimens to curate into the INDD reference collection.
